Dún Laoghaire Town Saint Patrick's Day Parade 2024
#DLTStPatricks
Dún Laoghaire will hold its first St. Patrick’s Day Parade in many decades on Sunday, 17 March 2024. The parade itself will last for approximately one hour from 11am – 12 noon. The parade route will begin at Islington Avenue, proceed along Queen’s Road, and will end at the Marine Road junction into the Harbour, with parade participants dispersing into the Harbour area.
The Parade will provide an opportunity for local residents and visitors to gather and celebrate our culture, heritage, community and everything we are proud of. We are hoping for colourful floats, lively music and dancing, and maybe even a sighting of St. Patrick himself. We are inviting local schools, sports clubs, community, music and dance groups and businesses to participate in the parade.
Did you know that our town’s last St. Patrick’s week Parade was in the 1960s!
Road Closures During The Parade
Referring to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993. Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has approved an application from Dun Laoghaire Business Association for the temporary closure of Windsor Terrace and Queen’s Road, Dun Laoghaire from Islington Avenue junction to Marine Road junction on Sunday 17th March, 2024 between 07:00 hours and 13:00 hours.
A Traffic Management Plan will be in operation and pedestrian and local access will be maintained at all times. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
The purpose of the closure is for the St. Patrick’s Day parade.

SPOT THE LEPRECHAUN COMPETITION
As a tie-in to Dun Laoghaire Town’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, DunLaoghaireTown.ie together with DLBA is organising a Spot the Leprechaun Competition with local businesses in the run up to the day of the Parade.
Participating shops around the town will have a certain number of miniature leprechauns hidden in their window displays. All you have to do is:
Count the Leprechauns you can see
Go into the shop and say the right number
Claim your free flag
Come to the Dun Laoghaire Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and wave with it! 🙂
The window sign on the shops will explain how this simple competition will work.
